A digital poem that gets consumed by a parasite
The End is a spherical 3D digital poem created in WebGL during the Covid lockdown in the UK. The piece is comprised of a multi-directional text which is 'enveloped' by a procedurally generated disease or parasite that slowly erodes its legibility. Interestingly once the poem has been 'consumed' the code reverses itself and the text regenerates.
Featuring a haunting soundtrack by Barry Snaith, The End was published as "1:" in Gone Lawn literary magazine in June 2021 and in Backslash Lit in March 2022. Use your mouse/the mouse scroll wheel to explore, or a touch screen to navigate. The piece is moderately graphically intensive so may not work on older/low-powered devices.
